NBA Twitter follows, LeBron James, Kevin Durant
Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

Social media is quite entertaining from all different areas: sports, celebrities and whatever else you can think of. The NBA is no exception. Plenty of the biggest NBA personalities from Kevin Durant to Steph Curry interact constantly to keep fans engaged and up to date.

It can be about any topic from basketball to the roasting of random people. With that said, here are the five best NBA players to follow on Twitter (X) and examples of some of their best posts over the years.

5. Joel Embiid, Philadelphia 76ers

Years ago when social media was at its peak, Joel Embiid was entertaining. That puts it lightly. In 2014, this man had nothing but time on his hands. He was unfortunately out for that season because of a broken foot.

Embiid shook up Twitter (now called X) one day by doing of all things…shooting his shot with famed celebrity Kim Kardashian. It didn’t go like he had hoped.

But ever since then, he’s been one of the best people to follow. He loves his teammates, the game of basketball and soccer. It remains to be seen whether Embiid will again shoot his shot with Kim K.

4. Patrick Beverley, Milwaukee Bucks

This guy right here keeps everything real and doesn’t sugar coat ANYTHING. Patrick Beverley has a what you see is what you get type of personality. He’s the epitome of a great trash talker and he backs it up on the basketball court.

Whenever his team wins, he ends posts in the same way: “Belt 2 A$$.” He’s a Chicago native and wears it proudly on his sleeve. But on March 1 when the Bucks faced the Bulls at the United Center, Beverley and the Bucks got the last laugh… and I saw it up close. Final score: Bucks: 118. Bulls: 97. Look at this tweet after the game. Sorry Bulls fans…

3. Draymond Green, Golden State Warriors

Some say Draymond Green is a dirty player and he might have some issues. He’s been suspended multiple times in his career by the NBA due to committing many dangerous flagrant fouls and he’s been ejected from games more than people can count. During one particular game against the Phoenix Suns this past season, Green was ejected after striking center Jusif Nurkic in the face.

After the game, Nurkic was asked about the incident and he flat out said: “I don’t know what’s wrong with that brother. He needs help.” Green was none too pleased with the soundbite. In his podcast (and in this tweet), Green DESTROYED Nurkic. Rightfully so.

The last two players I’m about to mention on this list have both been opponents of Draymond and one was a teammate for three seasons.

2. Kevin Durant, Phoenix Suns

Buckle up, you are in for a ride whenever you see this man on social media. Much like Patrick Beverley and Draymond Green, Kevin Durant is not someone to mess with. He is NOTORIOUS for having multiple burner accounts through the years and even though he won’t say it, he is more sensitive than a Snuggie.

Most famously, he strongly dislikes Charles Barkley. Barkley has stated on numerous occasions how sensitive this current crop of players are, particularly Durant. In an interview with 60 Minutes, Barkley flat out said: “He’s very sensitive. Great player. He’s part of that generation who thinks he can’t be criticized. ”

Durant saw the video and responded: “This ain’t getting tiring Chuck? I’ll never respect the words that come out ya mouth fam just deal with it.” At times, when Durant goes at fans on social media it is justified. Such as this example.

1. LeBron James, Los Angeles Lakers

Quite simply, whenever this man speaks people listen. LeBron James is the NBA’s torch bearer for the lack of a better word and has been for the last two decades since he came into the league. As he’s been playing for 21 seasons, age comes with wisdom. And no matter the topic, LeBron is not shy about speaking his mind.

As this current generation says: “stand on business.” And he certainly does that. I could’ve chosen many examples but this is the one that sticks out to me. He has a right to have a seats at the table as far as being the greatest player in NBA history because of what he has accomplished in his Hall of Fame career: four NBA championships, four NBA Finals MVPs, 10 NBA Finals appearances and not to mention the all time leading scorer in NBA history.

The tweet speaks for itself. He is the most dominant player in the modern era and it’s not even close. He is easily the best NBA player to follow on Twitter and all of social media for that matter.
