Haley Cavinder announced back in November that she had decided to leave the Miami Hurricanes women’s basketball team and finish her college career with Texas Christian.

This came in the midst of a 2023-24 season in which Haley and her twin sister, Hanna, had taken a year off to pursue other opportunities after they went viral, in part, for leading the Hurricanes to the Elite 8 the previous March.

About all of that? Hanna announced on Wednesday that she had decided to return to college ball and finish her career with the Hurricanes. Miami posted one day later that her sister would join her in rocking South Beach this coming fall.

As noted above, the twins were the toast of college basketball after they led Miami deep into the 2023 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament.

Obviously, their appeal off the court made them popular figures in today’s modern social media climate. In fact, the Cavinder twins have 4.5 million followers on TikTok. You don’t need to be a genius to understand why.

Working out to Taylor Swift just makes this the most 2024 thing seen in American over the first five months or so of the calendar year. Would you expect anything different?

The twins put pause on their college basketball careers to try other things off the court. This included a partnership with the WWE that never came to fruition.

After attempting to use their appeal for other endeavours, they are making their way back on to the basketball court. It now seems likely that the two will receive massive NIL deals with a vacuum needing to be filled in the growing women’s sport following Caitlin Clark’s departure for the WNBA.

As for Haley Cavinder, she might have a future in the pros. The 5-foot-6 Arizona native averaged 12.2 ponts, 4.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists on 40% shooting from distance for Miami in 2022-23. Prior to arriving with the Hurricanes, she averaged a healthy 18.4 points and 8.1 rebounds in three seasons with Fresno State.
