Canadian pole vaulter Alysha Newman won bronze during the Summer Olympics in Paris on Wednesday, showing her talents in a big way.

She also made history in the process. Newman set the Canadian record in pole vaulting while becoming the first athlete in that nation to medal in the sport during the Summer Olympics since William Halpenny in the 1912 Sweden games.

Newman also took the Internet by storm as she twerked in celebration of earning bronze.

For some reason, Newman received criticism from trolls on social media after this display. Like, how dare she have fun in celebrating making history in France. People are just weird.

Newman was not having any of it. After all, she suffered a concussion ahead of the 2020 Summer Olympics (held in 2021). It impacted her ability to compete in Tokyo.

“I had brain problems. I had a brain health issue. There’s mental health, and there’s brain health,” she said. “I wasn’t happy. I didn’t like the sport at that time, and it was a struggle for me. I needed to step away, be happy off the track, so then I learned to love track again and then fix my mental health,” Newman told Canada’s Olympic website.

“This whole year, I’ve been leading up to this moment,” Newman continued. “It was so funny because I felt like I missed out in Tokyo, missed out in Rio. I just wasn’t at my best, personally, on and off the track. This year I said, I’m going to put it all in one basket. I’m putting all track and field in this basket, and it worked out.”

Naturally, she was excited about rebounding and making her country proud in France. Wouldn’t you be? As for the haters, Newman also addressed them.

“Of course, many people have a certain stereotypes when they think of OnlyFans. I can’t change many people’s minds, the 30-year-old Newman said. “But this website has connected me with many fans, more than any other pole vaulter before. What others think about it doesn’t bother me. I am who I am and I do it well.”

Indeed. Newman has 65,000 followers on OnlyFans.

In any event, coming away with a bronze will change Newman’s life. That’s true even if some were not happy with her twerking celebration.

We say, good for you, Alysha Newman. The haters need to get a life.
