Kevin Durant drove fans into a tizzy after summarizing what life in America is like in one tidy statement.

Durant’s comments followed a tremendous comeback by Team USA against Serbia in the Olympic semifinals on Thursday. The American squad trailed their counterparts by 13 points heading into the final quarter but outscored them 32-15 in the final 10 minutes.

It was an epic victory that avoided potential embarrassment with Team USA being a 15.5-point favorite heading into the matchup.

Steph Curry led the team with 36 points and 8 rebounds, while Joel Embiid chipped in 19. Durant provided 9 points off the bench.

But it was what the Phoenix Suns star and future NBA Hall of Famer said about representing America after the game that had everybody talking.

Kevin Durant On America

Kevin Durant gave his take on representing America to reporters after the game. It was a succinct comment. But it nailed the state of things, really.

“A lot of bull[…] happens in our country,” he said. “But a lot of great things happen, too.”

Honestly, that should probably be a campaign slogan somewhere. Perhaps it should go on a plaque and be posted inside every government building.

The reporter who posted the quote noted that Americans of every stripe had liked Kevin Durant’s quote about America.

“This tweet has been liked by venture capitalists and by law school deans and by Tom Morello. By the machine, and by the rage,” he hilariously wrote. “Truly inspiring unity.”

America – Great Things Happen Too

Most fans seemed to appreciate Kevin Durant’s take.

“Slogan of the generation,” one basketball fan replied.

“Durant keeping it real,” another joked.

Another pointed out that hey, even with the greatest of nations you sometimes have to take the good with the bad.

“Acknowledging the challenges while still taking pride in representing the country on the global stage,” one fan opined. “It’s a reminder that despite the flaws, there’s still a lot to appreciate.”

That USA-Serbia game was emblematic of Durant’s comments. A lot of bullstuff happened for three quarters, before the American team made a lot of great things happen too.

Team USA will take on France in the gold medal game on Saturday. Here’s to more great things during that game and seeing Durant and the rest of the men’s team standing on the podium, hand over heart, listening to the national anthem play.
