Gymnast Carlos Yulo from the Philippines didn’t have any idea that his life would change forever during the Summer Olympics in Paris.
Yulo, 24, won first place in the floor exercise earlier in August. In the process, Yulo became the first men’s gymnast in the nation to win gold in the Summer Olympics.
It was a stunning overall performance from the young man. It also has him receiving a ton of perks from companies and the government of the Philippines. Let us explain.
According to CNBC, the Philippine government will award Yulo $172,519 in cash while the country’s House of Representatives has pledged another $103,511. Meanwhile, the real estate company Megaworld has offered up a $414,000 condo that’s fully furnished in Taguig.
“This 2024, we are celebrating our 100th year of participating in the Olympic Games, and what a way to celebrate this milestone than by recognizing the superb competitive spirit of our newest Olympic gold medalist and welcoming them to McKinley Hill,” Megaworld president Lourdes T. Gutierrez-Alfonso said.

Carlos Yulo’s Life Changing Gold Medal At Summer Olympics

Those are some pretty awesome perks right there. But that’s not the extent of what Yulo will receive after winning gold in France. He’s getting a lifetime supply of ramen, among other things.
“Yulo will also be able to take advantage of a lifetime supply of ramen from various restaurant chains in the country and a gastroenterologist has even offered Yulo free consultations and colonoscopies for life,” the CNBC report read. “The University of Mindanao has offered the gold medalist free university credits.”
Yulo is also expected to receive a hero’s welcome in his home town of Manila once he returns back from Paris following the Closing Ceremony of the Olympics.
This is a far cry from what we’re seeing American athletes go through during their time in Paris this summer. That’s for sure.
