UConn head coach Dan Hurley had an expletive-laden outburst toward the officiating crew at Madison Square Garden after the Huskies lost to Florida a couple of weeks ago. The defeat moved the Gators into the Sweet 16 and ended the Huskies’ season.
UConn had been gunning for a third-straight NCAA championship.
Hurley, with the benefit of nearly three weeks of hindsight, finally admitted that his behavior was less than ideal.
“That was embarrassing,” he told famed sports commentator Dan Patrick. “I wish somebody could have stopped me.”
“I gotta get somebody, I think, that maybe could just walk me on and off the court. Maybe like college football.”
#DanHurley wishes he had his most recent postgame outburst back … admitting he really could've used some help keeping his cool after falling in the #NCAA tournament.

Dan Hurley Suggests He Needs Help Controlling His Childish Emotions
Hurley went on to reiterate the fact that he might need a dedicated presence to help him control his emotions.
“Maybe I need to get somebody that can just ⌠when the game ends, just get me on and off the court,” he repeated.
That, or some anger management courses and a re-upping on your Ritalin. And what about while you’re on the court, during games, Coach? Where some of your wild antics show a 52-year-old man who hasn’t developed emotionally since his adolescence.

The incident in question occurred as Hurley was leaving the court against Florida, frustrated by the game’s officiating and the subsequent defeat.
Video footage captured him yelling at security to “get the fâ out of my way” while being escorted out, a moment that quickly went viral.
“Hope they donât fâ you like they fâ us,” Hurley shouted, seemingly in the hopes that Florida’s next opponent would avoid the same fate. “I hope they donât do that to you, Baylor.”

Hurley Can’t Change
Dan Hurley’s behavior on the court and off have often been the center of conversation regarding the UConn men’s basketball team. Sometimes the players accomplishments get overshadowed by the temper tentrum-prone coach.
It is an entitled arrogance that undermines his role as a leader and public figure.
Patrick himself has suggested Hurley will never change his ways, either, agreeing that it oftentimes dips into ’embarrassing’ territory.
“You may not like the antics on the floor, and at times I get embarrassed for him â he can’t change,” Patrick said.

The results don’t lie, we get it. But Hurley’s inability to control his temper in a professional setting, followed by a half-hearted apology only after public backlash, reflects a lack of accountability and maturity.
While his intensity might fuel his coaching success, it crosses into jacka–territory when it disrespects others, like security staff just doing their jobs, for no reason beyond his own frustration.
