Kai Trump, the 18-year-old granddaughter of President Donald Trump, is set to make her professional debut at the LPGA’s ANNIKA event at Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Florida, later today.
A high school senior who recently committed to the University of Miami, Ms. Trump received a sponsorship exemption to showcase her emerging talent among the pros. Something she accepted gleefully.
Trump said she accepted the invitation “in a heartbeat” and has “just been practicing a lot ever since.”
“It’s an honor,” she told reporters. “I would like to thank the LPGA and the Doyle family for the opportunity. I’m looking forward to it. It’s really cool to say that I’m playing my first LPGA event, and I’m only a senior in high school.”
Quite an accomplishment, young lady.
Kai Trump already showing off
Taking part in Wednesday’s pro-am portion for The Annika tournament, ahead of her LPGA debut, Kai Trump was already wowing fans on the links, hitting a birdie on a par 3.
Trump will tee off at 12:32 p.m. ET on Thursday from the 10th hole, grouped with Hinako Shibuno and Olivia Cowan, just two pairings behind defending champion Nelly Korda.
The field also features notable players like Charley Hull, Lexi Thompson, and Rose Zhang, making it a high-stakes introduction for the young golfer.

With all that LPGA firepower out there on the links, Kai Trump is certain she’ll learn a thing or two.
“I’m going to learn a lot no matter what happens,” she said, according to Fox News. “I’m just going to go out there and have fun. Competing with the best players is going to be cool… inside the ropes playing with them, learning what kind of shots they hit and what they do on the course.”
“I’m just looking forward to playing with the best,” Trump added.
And we’re looking forward to watching her game develop.

Just like gramps
In a YouTube video last month, Kai Trump humorously explained that the novelty of golfing with the President of the United States has subsided. That’s because he’s her grandpa.
“I just don’t view it as him being the president. I view it as he’s my grandpa. We’re gonna go out there and play golf,” she told Fox News Digital. “We play golf all the time. It’s nothing new.”
Kai said that the President always makes time for her on the golf course. Bonding time is crucial for the two.
“Whenever I have time, he will always make time to play golf with me,” she said.
How accessible is Trump?
“If I call him tomorrow and ask to play golf next Saturday, he will make time for it,” said Kai. “That’s one of his really good qualities — he always makes time for his family.”
Well done, Mr. President, and good luck today, Kai!
