Golf legend Phil Mickelson on Wednesday criticized U.S. immigration policies as excessively lenient towards criminals, contrasting them with far harsher penalties imposed by other countries.
Mickelson was responding to an embarrassing video of Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey saying he would not cooperate with federal law enforcement, who are descending upon the Gopher State in response to massive fraud being investigated by Somali criminals.
Frey then made comments speaking Somali to the press. If pandering were a person, it’d be Frey.

Mickelson responded on X by pointing out that there are some countries on this planet that actually treat criminals like criminals.
“The US is way too lenient on illegal immigration,” the three-time Masters champ wrote on X. “Singapore 6 months in prison, caning, THEN deportation. Malaysia 1-5 years in prison, caning, then deportation …”
Mickelson went on to list several more countries, concluding, “Countless more like these.”

Phil Mickelson is getting increasingly political
It’s been pretty hard to ignore. Phil Mickelson has been getting more political with his social media posts over the years. And he’s definitely channeling President Trump at times.
Last month, he expressed dismay over California’s sky-high gas prices and ripped Democratic policies that prioritize climate goals over common sense.
Mickelson reshared images of the exorbitant prices at the pump, one showing gas at $2.99 per gallon in neighboring Arizona, another showing $4.99 per gallon in Cali. He captioned them with a dire prediction.
“This is sad and going to get worse,” the three-time Masters champ wrote.

Weeks prior, he took a sarcastic swipe at the nationwide “No Kings” protests against Trump and took a jab at the previous occupant of the White House in the process.
“On this special day, as we all gather to fight against blanket auto pen pardons and executive orders, lawlessness, and stealing citizens’ resources for illegal non-citizens, I believe it has worked!” he sarcastically wrote on X.
“That is no longer happening, so great job, everyone.”

One of the best
Phil Mickelson, a left-handed golfing icon, rose to prominence on the PGA Tour with 45 victories and became one of the sport’s most exciting players known for his flair and short-game wizardry. He has been the people’s champion throughout his career.
It makes sense that he’s a supporter of the people’s president.
Mickelson captured six major championships—three Masters titles (2004, 2006, 2010), two PGA Championships (2005, 2021), and the 2013 Open Championship—before joining LIV Golf in 2022.
He set the social media world on fire over the summer with an insane over-the-head chip shot while his feet were planted in a bunker.

The 2021 PGA Championship? Yeah, he won that at the age of 50 – the oldest player to ever win a major championship in the sport.
Mickelson continues to compete as a respected veteran while cementing his legacy in the World Golf Hall of Fame.
