Singer Ingrid Andress admitted to followers on social media that she was drunk during her universally panned rendition of the national anthem at the MLB Home Run Derby on Monday night.
Andress said she would immediately enter rehab.
“I’m not gonna […]’all, I was drunk last night,” she wrote in a remarkably frank post on social media. “I’m checking myself into a facility today to get the help I need.”
“That was not me last night,” she added. “I apologize to MLB, all the fans, and this country I love so much for that rendition.”

Ingrid Andress And Her Drunk National Anthem
If, perchance, you’ve been living under a rock or black-out drunk yourself, you may need a refresher on what happened with Ingrid Andress at the Home Run Derby last night.
Imagine 30 long-tailed cats being released into a store that exclusively sells rocking chairs. Now picture that store opening its doors to a bunch of customers eager to test out those chairs. On Black Friday.
Hear the sound in your head? Now realize that that sound, that incessant screeching and howling and whining, sounds about 100 times better than whatever this is.
Andress’ version of the national anthem was universally panned by critics. The phrase ‘worst version I’ve ever heard’ was bandied about across social media platforms.
How Does A Grammy Nominated Singer Do THAT?
As Bounding Into Sports revealed earlier, Ingrid Andress is a rather successful country singer. She had multiple songs reach the Billboard Hot 100 Hits list and earned four Grammy nominations.
Like many of us, Andress might have thought she’d sound better after pounding a few beers. Like many of us, she was wrong.
Andress’ national anthem performance was her first after taking a bit of a hiatus from performing after struggling both personally and professionally.
She sent a message to fans prior to the Derby fiasco indicating she was battling “depression” and felt she was “at the lowest point I’ve ever been.”
We sincerely hope she gets the help she needs. The casual nature of her message, including a quip about letting “y’all know how rehab is, I hear it’s super fun”, doesn’t sound all that promising.
Take it seriously, Ingrid. Let’s all look back on this and laugh someday.
