The country music singer Ingrid Andress has found herself going viral for all the wrong reasons as social media is accusing her of botching the national anthem at the MLB Home Run Derby on Monday night. As she continues to weather this humiliating storm, let’s learn a little bit more about Andress.
Would it surprise you to know she’s a multiple-time Grammy nominee?
Andress Botches National Anthem
But first, check out Andress’ performance of the national anthem, if you dare. Perhaps The New York Post said it best when the publication stated, “The 2024 Home Run Derby began on the wrong note. Several of them, in fact.”
Be sure to watch out for Alec Bohm, third baseman for the Philadelphia Phillies, struggling to keep a straight face as Andress sang. You might want to have some earplugs handy for this one!
Fans have let it be known just how bad they think this performance was.
“My ears are bleeding,” one viewer wrote on X, the social media platform previously known as Twitter. “One of the worst national anthem renditions ever. Fergie thanks her for taking the prize.”
“This person tried to sing the national anthem with a voice so screechy, even the bald eagle covered its ears,” another viewer added.

Andress’ History
Prior to this disastrous performance, Andress was known as an up and comer in the country music world. She’d had two hit songs that had brought her to the Billboard Hot 100 Hits list. She’d also earned four Grammy nominations.
Andress, 32, was born in Michigan and raised in Colorado. She’s always stayed true to her roots, as shown by her wearing a Rockies cap ahead of her ill-fated national anthem performance.
Andress has some deep connections to the baseball world. She is the daughter of Brad Andress, who served as a strength and conditioning coach with the Tigers, Rockies, Mets, and the University of Michigan.
Andress began her music career when she competed on season 2 of NBC’s The Sing-Off with the acapella group Pitch Slapped. She then returned the next season to compete with the group Delilah.
The singer later signed with Warner Music Nashville and Atlantic Records in 2018. Andress released her first album “Lady Like” in March of 2020. Her sophomore album “Good Person” followed two years later.
