Jason McCourty is leaving NFL Network’s Good Morning Football after the show moved locations from New York to Los Angeles. While the network is losing a talented football analyst in McCourty, it could gain another well-known figure, Manti Te’o.

Te’o is most known for his odd ‘catfishing’ encounter he experienced during his superstardom playing football for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. After he wrapped up his legendary college career, where Te’o won several major awards, including the best defensive player (Chuck Bednarik Award), he joined the NFL as the 38th overall pick by the then-San Diego Chargers.

Te’o’s reign in the NFL didn’t last long, and it wasn’t nearly as successful as his college career. Still, he managed to play eight NFL seasons, appearing in 62 games with 48 starts. But Te’o’s playing career wrapped up after the 2020 season, and he’s been looking for ways to stay involved in the game he has loved ever since.

Now, according to The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand, Te’o has emerged as one of the candidates to replace McCourty on NFL Network’s coverage team. But this isn’t just something random.

Te’o reportedly impressed during a recent NFL Media Boot camp, leading multiple TV executives to believe he might be able to handle a role on Good Morning Football. While he may not be the first name that comes to mind, Te’o has always had a charismatic personality, and it’s not hard to see how he could be a strong fit to provide intriguing football analysis.
