Kelly Clarkson, the pop superstar and lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan, recently let her feelings rip about the team’s owner, Jerry Jones.
The “Since U Been Gone” singer delivered some painfully hard truths that Cowboys fans already know, but still get a throbbing pain in their skulls when facing it.
During an episode of Kylie Kelce’s “Not Gonna Lie” podcast, Clarkson took a subtle yet pointed jab at Jones’ relentless optimism, which she—and many fans—see as a broken record.
“I just read something with my sister and I guess Jerry Jones had said, ‘Well, now is the time,’” she explained. “And I was like, ‘Oh, OK. It was different from the last ‘Now’s the time.’ Very different from last year’s time, which was also the time.”
Yep, maybe Jerry thinks he’s finally got it right this season. When he thought he had it right the last 31 seasons.

Kelly Clarkson Delivers A Blow To Jerry Jones, Cowboy Fans
Ouch. That’s the sound of a fed-up fan calling out decades of unfulfilled promises. And man, has Jerry Jones ever delivered in the empty promises department.
After the 1990s, the team experienced significant playoff droughts and controversies, with Jones often criticized for his personnel decisions and the team’s failure to return to an NFC Championship game, much less a Super Bowl.
Since winning the Super Bowl in 1995, the storied franchise has just five playoff wins. Fans often note that the one and only consistent entity during that time has been Jones as general manager.
Last year’s 7-10 record for the Cowboys was one of the more frustrating seasons in recent years, as the team was rarely competitive despite Jones issuing some “all-in” rhetoric before the season began, and a strong roster.
Says Cowboys Fans Are Among The Most Hated
Clarkson, a Texas native, didn’t stop there. She acknowledged the Cowboys’ polarizing status, saying, “Our team is probably one of the most hated.”
Clarkson added, “Because I also think, too, we’re always so hopeful. I don’t think there’s been more dreamers since the ‘90s. Every year is our year.”
She’s right again. The ‘We Dem Boyz’ mantra every season after a big win, only to be followed by inevitable heartbreak, is basically a meme you see every NFL year.
Don’t worry, though, Kelly. Despite mountains of evidence to the contrary, Jerry Jones thinks the best person for the job of Dallas GM is … Jerry Jones.
“So hell no, there’s nobody that could […] come in here and do all the contracts … and be a GM any better than I can,” he said in an interview with DLLS.
And yet, almost every league GM outmaneuvers him every season. But at least he’s “all-in” and giving Cowboys fans hope every year … or something.
