Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley, fresh off setting an all-time NFL record for most rushing yards in a season (combined – season/playoffs), is setting about another impossible task:
Defending Taylor Swift from fans who may be tired of having her and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce’s bubbly relationship forced down their throats.
Swift was met with a noticeable level of booing from the crowd at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans at Sunday night’s Super Bowl.
The “Blank Space” singer must have felt she was in her own blank space after being alienated by the crowd. Swift, shown on the Jumbotron during pre-game festivities, was clearly taken aback by the crowd’s reaction.
“What’s going on?” she asked the person sitting in front of her.
The official end of woke celebrity culture.

Saquon Barkley Says Taylor Swift Is Good For The Game
Saquon Barkley, during an interview on SiriusXM’s “The Howard Stern Show” on Wednesday, said he didn’t understand why anyone would dare boo Taylor Swift.
“I will say this, though. You know, I remember that they showed her on the jumbotron, and she got booed,” Barkley said. “I don’t get it. I don’t get why she was getting hate there.”
It’s not hate so much, Saquon. It’s people getting tired of the attention she gets during football games. Does your fiance, Anna Congdon, get shown on the jumbotron a thousand times per game? No.
Barkley compared the outreach to Swifties with the NFL playing games overseas, which is also annoying.
“She’s there supporting her significant other, and she’s made the game bigger. You know, we’re all about, in football, we’re all about, you know, how can we expand the game and make it more, you know, internationally,” Barkley said.
“And we’re traveling to Brazil, and we’re traveling to Mexico, and you know, apparently, we’re traveling to Australia soon, so we’re trying to expand the game,” he added. “And, you know, her being a part of it’s only helping that, so I don’t get the slack that she’s getting.”
“She made the game bigger.”

Swifties Aren’t The Swiftest
What’s odd is that Saquon Barkley is throwing shade at his own fan base. Those boos for Taylor Swift weren’t coming for people cheering on the Chiefs.
Not to mention, this is even as her fans, known by themselves as ‘Swifties,’ have been harassing Barkley’s teammate’s Mom.
Eagles defensive back C.J. Gardner-Johnson took a shot at Kelce on social media, and Tay Tay’s army responded in kind by leaving negative reviews on his mother’s restaurant and even calling ICE about the place.
It all backfired on the Swifties, though, as the restaurant is closed and, therefore, isn’t harboring any illegal immigrants.
Not the brightest bulbs.
In a poll during the 2024 season, NFL players voiced a strong opinion on the excessive coverage of Taylor Swift during their football games. A vast majority of players agree with Saquon Barkley and indicated they are okay with the Swift-Kelce relationship craze.
Nearly 73% of those questioned view her wedging her way into the game as a positive. Just 5% of players viewed Swift as a negative. And roughly 22% were in the middle on the matter.
“I think it’s been positive for the league. I think that at the end of the day, it’s a business and you need to get as many eyes on it as possible,” one player told the outlet.
It’s all about the almighty dollar.
