ESPN commentator Stephen A. Smith is weighing in on the controversy surrounding Serena Wiliams’ participation in the Super Bowl LIX halftime show. As you might imagine, he has a controversial take.

Williams made a surprise cameo during Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime performance, raising more than a few eyebrows by performing the “crip walk.”

The tennis legend performed the move while Lamar performed his Drake diss track “Not Like Us.”

Making it more odd was that the 43-year-old tennis legend took the opportunity to jab Drake clearly as a clapback because she dated him years ago.

Smith has some thoughts on that.

Stephen A. Slams Serena Williams

Stephen A. Smith found it rather curious that Serena Williams took time out of her busy schedule to take a shot at an ex-boyfriend. Especially when she’s been happily married to Alexis Ohanian since 2017.

In fact, he suggested Ohanian might want to reach out to a divorce lawyer during the Monday edition of First Take.

“If I’m married and my wife is going to join trolling her ex, go back to his ass, ‘cause clearly you don’t belong with me,” Smith fumed.

“What you worried about him for and you’re with me? Bye. Bye.”

Maybe Ohanian can ‘crip walk’ his way down to the lawyer’s office as he ponders why his wife of eight years is still thinking about her ex, to the point of putting it on the global stage.

Her Daughter Olympia

Ohanian, the co-founder of Reddit, married Seena Williams in 2017, and their ceremony was attended by some high-profile celebrities – including Beyoncé and Kim Kardashian.

They have two children together.

Their daughter, Olympia, attended the 2024 Olympics in Paris and joined her parents on the red carpet ahead of the Opening Ceremony. She stole the show.

The reporter asked which of the sports or athletes then 6-year-old was most looking forward to, to which she replied, “Every one of them.”

It was too cute by a factor of infinity.

Smith might be right on this one. Serena Williams probably has more important things to worry about than some random dude she dated back in 2011.

For those keeping track, that was 14 years ago.
