The city of Los Angeles, California has descended into chaos as a result of raging fires. As of Thursday, the fires had spread 45 square miles and destroyed over 1,300 structures. Indeed, it’s been estimated that the fires have caused $48 billion in damage, with that number expected to grow.
The former NFL star Tim Tebow, who is a devout Christian, took to social media on Thursday to offer prayers and support for those impacted by the wildfires.
Tebow Prays For California
“Like so many of you, I’ve been watching the news lately with a heavy heart,” Tebow wrote on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. “Last week, it was the tragedy in New Orleans. This week, it’s the wildfires in California. Quite honestly, in times like these, I don’t know what else to do but pray.”
Tebow proceeded to ask the Lord to help the people of California.
“And so, Lord, we humbly ask You to bring rain to California,” he continued. “Protect our first responders and give them strength & courage. Comfort those who have lost loved ones, their homes, or their businesses. Make Your presence known among people who desperately need hope.”
“And help us all to remember in times like these, that you are the same God today that you have always been – with us, and for us, always,” Tebow concluded.
NFL Announces Major Donation
Meanwhile, the NFL announced on Friday that it will be donating $5 million to the relief efforts.
“We are heartbroken over the devastating losses experienced by so many in the Los Angeles area and inspired by the heroism of first responders and residents who have supported their neighbors,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement. “The NFL family is committed to working with the Los Angeles Chargers and Los Angeles Rams to support their local communities in their time of need.”
The Kroenke Family, which owns the Los Angeles Rams, has also stepped up to help. They’ve announced that they will be donating $1 million to the LAFD Foundation.
“On behalf of our family and the Los Angeles Rams, our thoughts are with everyone affected by the unfathomable fires and destruction,” the Kroenke Family said. “We are beyond grateful for the tireless efforts of our first responders who continue to protect our community as well as individuals who continue to help our neighbors in need.”
“We know there are both immediate and long-term needs and our family and the Rams are committed to doing our part to support recovery efforts now and into the months and years ahead,” they added.

Rams And Vikings Playoff Game Moved
The Texans, Chargers, and Vikings have also all pledged to donate $1 million to wildfire relief efforts as well. On Thursday night, it was announced that Monday’s playoff game between the Rams and the Vikings has been moved to Arizona.
“In the interest of public safety, Monday’s Vikings-Rams Wild Card game has been moved from SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, CA to State Farm Stadium, the home of the Arizona Cardinals,” the NFL later told CBS Sports. “The decision was made in consultation with public officials, the participating clubs, and the NFLPA.”
Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone impacted by these wildfires. Please join us and Tebow in praying for the people of California!
