Golf star Rory McIlroy has had enough of the ugliness between the PGA and LIV Golf, saying that the stunts and reactions between the two leagues have gone way too “out of control.”

McIlroy sat down with The Guardian to discuss how the introduction of LIV Golf has changed the landscape and future of the golfing world, saying that as of now, things appear to be “irreparable.”

“This ‘us vs. them’ thing has gotten way out of control already,” said McIlroy. “If the two entities keep doubling down in both directions, it is only going to become irreparable. We are going to have a fractured sport for a long time. That is no good for anyone.

“If the two entities keep doubling down in both directions, it is only going to become irreparable. We are going to have a fractured sport for a long time. That is no good for anyone.”

McIlroy, who is currently the No. 1 player in the world, has been a staunch defender of the PGA throughout the criticisms leveled against them by the Saudi backed LIV Golf. Therefore, for him to essentially say that the two tours will have to find a way to coexist with each other in order to protect the sanctity of the sport as he has done previously carries some weight.

“I’ve always said I think there is a time and a place where everyone that’s involved here should sit down and try to work together,” McIlroy stated a month ago. “It’s very hard for that to happen right now when there’s two lawsuits going on.

“And I think, as well, there’s a natural timeline here to let temperatures just sort of settle down a little bit and people can maybe go into those mediations with cooler heads and not be so emotional about it all.”

Do you think McIlroy is onto something about the PGA and LIV Golf eventually have to learn to live with one another instead of being in a state of constant conflict? Let us know in the comments below.
