Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray is one of many athletes and celebrities who has reacted to the tragic shooting in Allen, Texas, in which a gunmen took the lives of eight innocent people. What makes Murray different than the others though is that he is actually from Allen, which hits more personally.

Murray posted to Twitter a request to his followers to let him know if there was any way her could provide help to the victims and families of those lost.

“This is sickening,” tweeted Murray. “Prayers to the mass shooting victims in Allen, Texas.”

“If there is anyway I can help those affected by this tragedy please let me know.”

“When is this s— gonna stop?” He asked

The shooting occurred on Sunday in the afternoon according to law enforcement. Video uploaded to social media shows a adult male dressed in black, exiting a silver vehicle and then opening fire upon civilians.

The suspected gunmen who was arrested is 33-year-old Mauricio Martinez Garcia, who killed eight and injured seven other people according to Fox News. Garcia was tracked down by FBI agents with several Dallas police officers at his home on Sunday.

Murray attended college at Texas A&M and then Oklahoma before becoming a professional athlete. At one point in time, he played baseball but rejected an opportunity to play in the MLB with the Oakland Athletics, instead choosing to go the route of a NFL player with the Cardinals.

In 2019, Murray was the number one overall pick, achieving 13,848 yards in addition to 84 touchdown passes through 57 total games. Currently, he is recovering from a ACL tear in his knee from an injury from the 2022, making his 2023 season start unclear.
