The Savannah Bananas are a beloved exhibition baseball team that has not only taken the American Association by storm, but also amassed a huge following across TikTok, Instagram, and every other platform with their Harlem Globetrotter-esque antics. However, that killjoy over at Barstool Sports, Dave Portnoy, thinks having family-friendly, wholesome fun is stupid.

“I’m so f**king sick of the Savannah Bananas,” Portnoy posted to X on Monday. Bananas’ fans, I’m sorry to report, weren’t too pleased in the reply section.

“They might be sick of you too,” replied one fan, before the Bananas’ social media account on X jumped into it and ‘chose violence,‘ as the kids say.

“Nahhhhh, Barstool is in our DMs every day asking to reshape our videos. We’ll let Dave have his moment,” they replied.

Well, Portnoy didn’t let it go. Instead he obsessed over it, festered over it, probably lost sleep over it, and then finally, wrote a blog about it (typos in original).

“So I have a new enemy. The Savana Banananas,” he wrote. “Now listen I get that the bananas aren’t meant for people over the age of 10. It’s a kids show. They play wacky baseball and do wacky things and it works for them. They have great attendance and it’s a great place to bring your kids for an afternoon.  (Editor’s note – I hate kids)   So I get it’s not for me. That’s fine.

“But what is driving me crazy is seeing their clips go viral every 2 seconds. Like after the 9,000th clip of essentially the same exact thing we get the point. Oh the center fielder did a flip catching a routing fly ball. Ohh the umpire is dancing. Oh they are dancing their way to the batters box. Oh they are doing the Toosie Slide. Enough already.”

In a reply from another X user, someone asked the Bananas: “Wasn’t @martymush just taking BP with you guys. Lol,” referring to Barstool Podcast host Marty Mush.

“Yes he was,” the team replied. “It’s almost like… everyone at Barstool is a huge fan. Weird.”

That’s when Portnoy had to get in again, posting “Somebody tell the @TheSavBananas that I didn’t own Barstool till last week. I’m back. Lame s–t is out. Congrats on having low rent talent make lame ass videos. Oh Marty Mush took BP! You’re proving my point.”

As a response to his smack talk, the Bananas even found this gem to post in order to continue this hilariously unnecessary tit-for-tat.

Portnoy bought back Barstool Sports, which he founded, from Penn entertainment for $1 earlier in August (for real, just $1).
