Will Levis starring in his Hellmann's Mayonnaise commercial | Hellmann's

Brash and bodacious broadcaster Stephen A. Smith played the race card when it came to condiments this week. And the topping du jour was mayonnaise – Hellman’s mayonnaise to be exact – and its newest celebrity endorser, Will Levis. On his show on Wednesday, Smith said that once he heard an athlete was spreading the word about mayo, “He must be white.”

The Titans rookie quarterback scored a “lifetime supply” of Hellmann’s after he went viral in the lead-up to the 2023 NFL Draft for informing the world that he likes a little bit of mayo in his cup of morning java.

“I’ll admit I did not expect my mayonnaise and coffee combination to go viral — but I’m glad it did because it brought this partnership to life,” Levis said in a statement. “Hellmann’s is a staple ingredient for me and getting to show my fans how to use it in different ways, whether it’s game day dishes or mixing it in my coffee, knowing I’ll have the mayonnaise in my fridge for a lifetime is a dream come true.”

Stephen A. Smith had to have a little bit of fun at the player’s expense, however. And going back to an old trope of his, he kidded about Levis’ race – as an obvious and stereotypical joke about white people loving mayonnaise… maybe a little too much.

“I heard this story and I just cringed,” Smith said. “This is a dude that puts mayonnaise in his coffee. I’m going to repeat that: Mayonnaise in his coffee. Do you all know he got a lifetime deal with Hellmann’s Mayo?

“That’s just nasty. And by the way, I’m going to say something that ain’t popular, but it needs to be said right here on The Stephen A. Smith Show. When I saw this, I knew he had to be white. Ain’t no brothers and sisters doing that.”

Powered by the sandwich spread, Will Levis is currently working to replace veteran Ryan Tannehill in the starting spot under center for Tennessee. The QB has had an impressive camp as his team sets to kick off the 2023 season on Sept 10 in New Orleans.
