Amidst the ongoing debate between traditional, often uncomfortable golf attire or more comfortable “athletic wear,” social media influencer and golf industry personality Paige Spiranac has once again made it very clear where she stands— this time pointing out that she doesn’t care whether people attack her for the more “provocative” clothing choices she’s often known for wearing on the links.

During a recent Q&A on her Instagram account, Spiranac took on the trolls directly. And, you probably guessed it, addressed the elephant in the room: her breasts.

“They’ve actually gotten a lot bigger, and so I can see a lot of people being confused by like when I first started this,” the influencer said.

“I’ve always had, like, a chest, but not like this. And it’s because I’ve gained weight and I’ve talked about all those reasons.

“But I can see why people question it, and they’re confused sometimes because it’s like, one week they’re here and one week they’re there and, like, next year they’re here and it’s like, what is going on? I don’t know. I don’t know. It’s just that the human body is a magical thing.”

In September, Paige Spiranac spoke out about the criticism she often faces regarding her choice of clothing on the golf course. She explained to Sports Illustrated that her background in gymnastics, where wearing spandex and minimal clothing is the norm due to the nature of the sport, made her comfortable with such attire.

Transitioning into golf, she faced financial constraints that prevented her from purchasing a new, golf-specific wardrobe, leading her to play in what she already owned. Which was primarily workout clothes.

Spiranac, recognizing golfers as athletes, questions the traditional dress code of the sport, suggesting that golf attire should be more reflective of athletic wear.

Spiranac has also addressed what she considers to be the double standards she encounters from online critics, calling out the hypocrisy in the way her attire is judged compared to the positive reception that shirtless male athletes receive from women.

Observers can quickly see this disparity with a brief look at internet discussions. Gaining traction on the platform formerly known as Twitter, Spiranac emphasized her point by referring to a “case study” she undertook by pinning a past tweet where she observed improved golf performance while wearing a tank top over a traditional collared shirt.

Who will ultimately win the discussion over proper golfing attire in the long run? Let us know in the comments below and across social media.
