Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh, celebrating his team’s dramatic overtime win against the Los Angeles Rams this past weekend, shared a Christmas season message proclaiming the “good news that changes the world.”
The Ravens emerged from a back-and-forth matchup in week 14 following a spectacular 76-yard walk-off punt return by wide receiver Tylan Wallace.
Wallace’s tackle-evading, sideline-flirting effort in which he was almost brought down a few times but managed to stay upright gave the Ravens a 37-31 victory.
The win gives them a 10-3 record and puts them squarely in the driver’s seat as the potential No.1 seed in the AFC.
A beaming Harbaugh began the post-game interview by celebrating the win and giving credit to a tough Rams squad.
“Just a tremendous, amazing victory,” he told reporters. “Congratulations to our players for making plays when they had to be made and also to the Rams. That’s a really good football team.”

Coach John Harbaugh Shares The Good News
Normally, such an emotional and important victory would give head coach John Harbaugh enough good news to talk about. But he had more to share almost immediately into the post-game presser.
Harbaugh preached about the importance of the team concept and implored his players to grasp that “this is your time.”
“Five hundred years from now, none of us are going to be around. Five hundred years [ago], none of us were here, so we’re given this time with these people in this place for a purpose,” he said.
Changes The World
It was at that point that head coach John Harbaugh spoke about the meaning of this time of year. Of December. Of the Christmas season.
“December football has a meaning to it. It’s preparation for great events to come,” he said. “You have to put yourself in position with December football for what’s to come.”
And with that comes “the Advent season.”
“Advent comes from the Latin [word] ‘adventos,’ which means anticipation and preparation for an amazing event, which is the coming of our Savior and celebrating the Christ,” Harbaugh explained. “The Good News that changes the world and changes it for all eternity.”
In Christianity, Advent refers to the period of four weeks leading up to Christmas.
The Ravens and coach John Harbaugh have a very tough stretch coming up in December facing the Jaguars (8-5), the 49ers (10-3) on Christmas, and the Dolphins (9-4).
Each team leads their respective divisions.
