’12 Gauge’ has always let her fans know up close and personal how demanding the job of a MMA fighter is, but this story regarding a drug tester watching her poop takes things to a whole new level
MMA fans and other admirers of her “talent” almost always appreciate it when Paige VanZant gets personal and goes through the good, the bad, and the ugly regarding her stardom in the world of combat sports. However, on a recent episode of her podcast Paige and Austin: a Kickass Love Story, ’12 Gauge’ certainly shared more than what her audience was probably expecting from someone who seems to share … a lot already.

During the episode, VanZant spoke with her husband and co-host Austin Vanderford regarding the wild lengths that USADA would go to just to confirm that fighters were, in fact, not doping or taking any type of illegal supplements before fights.
Vanderford commented that after completing his weight cuts, he’d go and have some of the epic number two’s of his life. His wife on the other hand couldn’t have had a more horrifying experience in the restroom post-cut however.
“Every single time I would weigh-in, I would try to rehydrate… instantly sick,” said VanZant.

“So, part of USADA is once they see you, you cannot leave their sight, because, you know, it’s the whole anti-doping,” she continued. “Maybe you’re gonna go do something to mask the drugs or take something. I don’t even know right now. So, I had my drug tester in the bathroom with me for two hours, while I sh*t my brains out.”
Close your eyes and imagine that; You just completed your fight camp, it’s the day before you have to go fight another human being for a whole lot of money in a cage for the whole world to see, and after you’ve stripped down to show people you’re not fat, some random stranger has to watch you poop for two-whole hours.
Weird, nasty, uncomfortable – but for USADA drug testers, just another day at the office.
Sportskeeda notes that “she [VanZant] no longer has to tolerate such extreme anti-doping measures, as she is no longer a UFC fighter, having left the promotion in 2020″ and that “she has not taken part in any combat sports event since her 2021 loss to Rachael Ostovich at BKFC 19.”
