Mikayla Demaiter is a 23-year-old former Canadian ice hockey player and model hailing from Chatham, Ontario. She gained recognition as a talented ice hockey goaltender, playing for the Bluewater Hawks in the Provincial Women’s Hockey League (PWHL). Now, she’s thrown on the goalie pads one more time in a viral Instagram video as we close out 2023.
Mikayla Demaiter decided to wrap up her sports career in 2019 at the age of 19. After retiring from ice hockey, she pursued a career in modeling and has since gained a significant following on social media platforms, particularly Instagram.
Over the weekend she posted a short video clip, a throwback of sorts to her goalkeeper days. And she knows the video is hot.
“Just as surprised as you that the ice hasn’t completely melted,” she captioned the clip which shows her sporting well, at least half of the necessary goalie pads.
Perhaps she was only halfway through getting ready. The video, as of the time of this writing, has been viewed 4.5 million times.

Mikayla Demaiter: ‘World’s Sexiest Hockey Player’
According to reports by the Daily Star, Mikayla Demaiter has earned herself the unofficial title of “World’s Sexiest Hockey Player.”
And while the goalie pad video might not have sold you, perhaps a few of these others will.
Last summer, she included a couple of other hockey-themed images of “your favorite TENder.”
Another, the summer before that, in which she writes: “Guess you could say I’m a keeper.”
She delivers with the hockey puns, is a former player, and a current supermodel on the ice. What more could a sports fan ask for?

But Can She Play?
While some of Mikayla Demaiter’s Instagram posts are enough to make any red-blooded hockey fan want to climb in the penalty box with her, one wonders, is she all looks, or was she a pretty good hockey player?
Our friends over at Sportskeeda describe her on-ice stats as “truly commendable.”
During the 2018/19 season in the BLUEWATER league of the PWHL, Mikayla Demaiter showcased an impressive performance. Throughout the season, she played in 20 games, facing a total of 428 shots on goal. She allowed 19 goals against her team, resulting in a save percentage of 0.909. Mikayla made 428 saves during the season. Her goals-against average was 2.25, and she played a total of 953 minutes and 57 seconds.
