As the NFL season comes to its cold and bitter conclusion, the Baltimore Ravens have been burying their opponents behind MVP front-runner Lamar Jackson

If you hear a funeral dirge playing somewhere near Baltimore’s M&T Bank Stadium? Please, have no fear. Nothing and no one has died. Except for the hopes of any NFL team that’s looking to upend the Ravens right now.

Dressed in black and purple, the Ravens have been resembling The Undertaker in recent weeks, dropping opponents in an almost horrifying way. Baltimore has delivered a death blow to everyone in sight, and they currently boast the League’s best record heading into the final week of the regular season at 14-2.

On top of that, they have a poisonous playmaker in Lamar Jackson – who could very well be this year’s MVP. But it isn’t just the daredevil QB who makes the Ravens so hazardous to your health. His supporting killer offense, along with a deadly defense, have many believing that the Purple and Black are prepared to seal the fate of anyone who gets in their way of the Lombardi Trophy.

But before the Blackbirds get their talons around all their accolades, they will have to dispatch some awesome AFC opponents like the Dolphins and Chiefs. And reaching the Super Bowl doesn’t guarantee a win, as NFC powers like Philly, Dallas, and San Fran will be awaiting them on their way to The Promised Land.

While all of those teams are certainly capable of grabbing the chalice, Baltimore has been on a different level in recent weeks. The Eagles have struggled, Miami and Dallas are inconsistent, and the Chiefs have been a bit of a basket case.

But when the Ravens come rolling in? You can count on a long, purple and black train headed your way. One that can decimate you in mere minutes. As the postseason looms in the shadows, they may very well be the scariest team that’s hiding under the NFL’s bed.

In the past two weeks, Lamar Jackson and the Ravens have lit up two serious contenders like a funeral pyre. They defeated the aforementioned Dolphins and 49ers (both division leaders) by a combined 61 points over six days. Their 56-19 execution of Miami in week 17 clinched the AFC North title and solidified them as the top headhunters in the game.

The Ravens are gathering now, waiting to feed on whatever foolish souls cross their path. In the backdrop of Edgar Allan Poe’s hometown, this team looks prepared to deliver an American Horror story that could lead to them feasting on an opponent in the desert.

Like vultures. And where fortunes go to die. In Sin City, at Super Bowl LVIII, no less.

Whether or not the Ravens will be this postseason’s reaper remains to be seen. But one thing is certain: They’re coming… And hell’s coming with them.
