Elon Musk sent X users into a frenzy after brutalizing Dallas Mavericks minority team owner Mark Cuban in a debate over DEI. The acronym stands for diversity, equity, and inclusion in business. Or, in other words, using skin color or other demographics in hiring practices. Literal racism and sexism. Cuban opted to give a lengthy dissertation on X explaining his support for the initiative resulting in Musk obliterating the entire argument in one sentence.

X CEO Elon Musk has been railing against the use of DEI practices in business and educational institutions for some time. Just last month he wrote on his social media platform, “DEI must DIE.”

“The point was to end discrimination, not replace it with different discrimination,” he added.

Musk followed that up with another post saying, “Discrimination on the basis of race, which DEI does, is literally the definition of racism.”

For some reason, Mark Cuban decided he had to interject. And so he did. Then he interjected some more. And more. Seemingly with an endless supply of interjections, as evidenced by this lengthy screed on why DEI is a good thing. Take a gander if you have about 30 minutes of time you never need to get back.

Elon Musk Hammers Mark Cuban Back To Reality

What’s truly amazing here is that Mark Cuban obviously put a lot of thought into his post. He took the time, gathered his thoughts, let them cure for a bit (but definitely didn’t proofread), and then fired away.

Yet, after all of that, Elon Musk swatted him away with his one-sentence response.

“Cool, so when should we expect to see a short white/Asian woman on the Mavs?” he shot back.

That’s it. Book him. Murder. First degree.

Don’t misunderstand – Mark Cuban did try to make a comeback. But, like Jordan playing for the Wizards, he just couldn’t quite recapture the magic that makes him Mark Freakin’ Cuban.

Cuban responded with a link to an ESPN story over 10 years ago in which he claimed he’d consider drafting Brittney Griner if she was the best player “on the board” in the late rounds.

Of course, the article ends with Cuban admitting the main reason he would make such a move is the spectacle of it all and how it might make him some money.

“That’d sell out a few games.”

Mark Takes The L

We’re not quite sure how Cuban thought he was making a point here. Clearly, the Dallas Mavericks never drafted Griner. They didn’t work her out. They didn’t have her join the team based on DEI practices either.

Plus, it’s unclear how it would have worked out anyway since Cuban recently admitted to trading players away “because they smoke too much” weed.

It’s odd that he won’t push back on the ridiculousness of DEI, but when some NBA players were complaining that the term ‘owner’ was racist, Cuban was all over it.

Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green years ago suggested the title of owner is racist because “to be owned by someone just sets a bad precedent to start.”

“For him to try to turn it into something it’s not is wrong,” Cuban told ESPN. “He owes the NBA an apology. I think he does, because to try to create some connotation that owning equity in a company that you busted your ass for is the equivalent of ownership in terms of people, that’s just wrong. That’s just wrong in every which way.”

Cuban even offered to pay for Green to take business classes to better understand what the hell he was talking about. Perhaps the better route would be to give Green his minority stake in the Mavs and put his DEI money where his mouth is.
