Bob Costas, a veteran sportscaster with 28 Emmy awards to his name, spoke out about having biological males competing in women’s sports and denied that opposition to such unfair playing conditions amounts to transphobia.

Costas’ comments came during a discussion on “Real Time with Bill Maher,” in which he expressed concerns about the issue, stating that it is not fair to force women to compete with biological males.

The conversation began regarding Lia Thomas, the male swimmer who has chosen to ‘identify’ as a woman, who filed a lawsuit against World Aquatics to compete in women’s swimming at the Summer Olympics.

Bob Costas: Common Sense Is Not Transphobic

Costas, when asked if he thought it was fair for biological males to compete against biological females, stated the obvious – it isn’t. He also noted that each sport’s governing body has its own rules.

“People may not realize this, the individual federations that govern these sports make up their own rules. So World Aquatics may have different rules than FIFA or the Track and Field Association,” Costas said.

“So I understand that when it comes to Olympic boxing, that federation will allow trans women to compete against biological women, at birth biological women. That seems crazy.”

It doesn’t seem crazy. It is crazy. We live in a world that has gone thoroughly mad.

Female boxers have heavily criticized USA Boxing for a rule change implemented by the organization allowing biological males to compete against female boxers under certain conditions.

Cary Williams, a former women’s boxer who won the Pacific Northwest Women’s Tournament before retiring and becoming an Olympic-level boxing coach, said it could be a “deadly” decision.

Bob Costas continued spitting facts in opposition to transgender athletes which, you might notice, earned him a pretty good round of applause.

“It’s not transphobic to say ‘Let’s inject some common sense here,'” Costas stated. “A lot of this is murky.”

Costas did couch his comments by stating there are some people out there hostile to transgender individuals and that some legitimately have mental health issues in which they decide to transition because “they’ll be happier and closer to their true selves.”

But, he offered another comparison in both boxing and basketball that shows the absurdity of left-wing activism forcing biological males into female sports.

“Sugar Ray Leonard didn’t fight Mike Tyson. They were contemporaries. Sugar Ray was a welterweight, Mike was a heavyweight, alright?” Costas explained.

“If someday the best player in the WNBA can play in the NBA, everybody would applaud,” he continued. “But if the worst guy at the end of the bench on the worst team in the NBA went to the WNBA and averaged 40 points a game, everybody knows that’s bullshit.”

Costas also took aim at both presidential candidates but said President Biden’s mental faculties are an issue.

“When it comes to Biden this is like the truth that no one until very recently wants to say out loud, but my friends will tell you and I’ve been saying it for four years,” he said referring to recent reports of Biden’s failing mind. “This is Emperor’s New Clothes stuff. Joe Biden should have run on a firm promise that he would be a one-term president.”

Costas suggested the Democrats need to find a new candidate.

“If Biden’s hubris is such that he doesn’t understand the best interest of his party, and more important, his country, then he has to be shown the door, period,” he asserted.
