The golf influencer Paige Spiranac took to social media over the weekend to issue a surprising apology to her four million Instagram followers for not being more active about posting from the Masters tournament.

Spiranac Apologizes To Her Fans

Daily Mail reported that the Masters famously bans cell phones at Augusta National, so it’s understandable that Spiranac, 31, would be posting less while attending the event. Nevertheless, she still felt that it was important to let her loyal followers know that she had not forgotten about them during her time at the Masters.

“Been having the best time ever at the masters! Sorry I haven’t been as active,” she wrote on her Instagram Story after the third round of play on Saturday.

“It’s hard when you can’t bring your phone but can’t wait to update you guys later!” Spiranac added. “Who do you think is winning tomorrow?”

Spiranac Previously Addressed No-Cellphone Rule

Spiranac previously opened up about the no-cellphone rule at the Masters after attending the event last year. During a Q&A afterwards on her Instagram page, Spiranac was asked if she got recognized at all while she was at the Masters.

“Yeah, I did,” she replied, according to Essentially Sports. “And it was really nice because normally, like when people come up, they’re like, Hey, I got a picture. They take pictures, and they leave right away, and you’ll get to talk to them.”

Spiranac went on to say that since there were no phones anywhere at Augusta National, she was able to have more in-depth conversations with people.

“And I really enjoyed that, too,” she admitted, adding that it was nice to actually talk to some of her fans instead of just interacting with them online.

“And it’s nice to when they’re like, oh, like you, you look better in person, or you’re just as nice as you seem, or you know, all of those things,” she continued. “And so if you see me, I’ll come say hi. I’m a nice person. And like I said, it’s always nice meeting people. So thanks to everyone who said something and were so sweet and so kind.”

What Else Is Banned At The Masters?

Cellphones are just one of many things that are banned at the Masters, with the full list of banned items including:

  • Electronic devices (Cell Phones, Laptops, Tablets, Beepers and other electronics), including devices capable of transmitting photo/video
  • Backpacks, Bags and Purses larger than 10” x 10” x 12” (in its natural state)
  • Knives and Weapons of any kind (regardless of permit)
  • Cameras
  • Radios, TVs, Noise and music producing devices
  • Chairs/Seats with pointed ends, Folding armchairs and Rigid type chairs
  • Flags, Banners and Signs
  • Strollers
  • Food, Beverage and Coolers
  • Golf Shoes with metal spikes
  • Ladders, Periscopes and Selfie sticks

While attendees can bring cameras for personal use on practice days, they are not allowed on the grounds during tournament days. If banned items are found on an attendee, they are immediately removed from the premises and permanently lose their tickets.

Everyone is so glued to their phones these days that unplugging can be an incredibly refreshing experience. As a social media influencer, Spiranac is likely on her phone even more than the average person is, so it’s no wonder that she enjoyed this opportunity to take in the game that she loves without any distractions!
