LSU Tigers defensive back Javien Toviano was expected to compete for a starting job at cornerback heading into the 2024 college football season.
The former four-star recruit from Texas appeared in 13 games as a freshman last season, recording 20 tackles and a fumble recovery in the process.
That might have been the last we’ve seen of Toviano in Baton Rouge.
Reports broke on Sunday that Toviano was arrested on video voyeurism charges. The 19-year-old turned himself into authorities in East Baton Rouge. He’s accused of recording himself having sex with a woman without her consent.
The alleged victim claims that she found videos of the two on Toviano’s iPad. The woman also claimed that he had filmed them having sex in the past without her consent.
“The victim initially did not want to turn her phone in as evidence and did not want the investigation to continue,” report on Javien Toviano’s arrest, via NBC 5 in Dallas. “However, three days later, she returned to the sheriff’s office with Toviano’s iPad, laptop, and clock with a built-in camera.”

LSU Releases Statement After Arrest Of Javien Toviano

The LSU Tigers did not have much to say in a press release after the arrest of Toviano became public record outside of announcing that he has been suspended from all team activities.
“We will not have further comment out of respect for the legal process,” the university said.
LSU is set to begin practice on Aug. 1 with its first game against the USC Trojans a month later in Las Vegas. Obviously, Toviano will not be with the team.
He made three starts over the final month of his freshman season and was expected to take on a larger role under head coach Brian Kelly as a sophomore.
From an on-field standpoint, this will impact LSU’s depth in the secondary.
