Caitlin Clark continues to shatter records, both on and off the court. Her latest feat now proves her meteoric rise in the world of sports memorabilia.

Over the weekend, a one-of-a-kind 2024 Panini Prizm WNBA Signatures Gold Vinyl Prizm rookie card featuring Clark’s signature fetched an astonishing $366,000 at Goldin Auctions.

That amount set a new benchmark for the most expensive women’s sports card ever sold. It easily eclipsed the previous record held by a Serena Williams card, which sold for $266,400 in 2022.

Clark, the Indiana Fever’s standout Rookie of the Year, has not only elevated women’s basketball but also sparked a surge in fan investment.

Caitlin Clark Smashes Another Record

Its dazzling design and single-copy rarity helped the sale of the Caitlin Clark card. The amount helps cement her status as a cultural and commercial phenomenon.

“Clark’s rookie collectibles — especially professional cards depicting Clark during her Fever tenure — are among the most coveted cards in the basketball collecting specialty,” reads the description of her historic card.

Clark was crowned Time’s Athlete of the Year, a testament to her transcendent performance in basketball and her impact beyond the hardwood.

The sharpshooting guard for the Indiana Fever has not only rewritten record books but has also become a symbol of inspiration for aspiring athletes across the globe.

A once-in-a-generation talent on the court typically translates to success with sales and merchandise off the court. That has been evidenced by the rookie card sale.

Other Crazy Memorabilia Sales

Bounding Into Sports has been covering the memorabilia craze of late in great detail.

Michael Jordan’s first game-worn NBA jersey from his 1984 Chicago Bulls debut sold for $4.215 million at Sotheby’s, for example, while Kobe Bryant’s rookie jersey from his 1996 Lakers debut is expected to fetch a higher price at an upcoming auction.

The Jordan jersey, believed to be his first in the NBA, ranks as the fifth-most expensive NBA jersey ever sold, highlighting the immense value of basketball memorabilia.

LeBron James’ milestone of scoring his 50,000th career point (combined regular season and playoffs), achieved during a game against the Denver Nuggets on March 2nd, has been immortalized in a rare 1/1 Topps Now trading card.

The card features an on-card autograph and a piece of his game-worn jersey.

On the same day that Caitlin Clark’s card broke records, James also had a card sold for $1.159 million at the auction house.
