Jason Kelce recently announced his retirement after 13 incredible seasons in the NFL. During his career, spent entirely with the Philadelphia Eagles, Kelce won a Super Bowl, was a 7-time Pro Bowler, and a 6-time First Team All-Pro.

But this story just might top all of the accolades. And perhaps serve as a gentle reminder that maybe the NFL should stop focusing on the pop star girlfriend of one of the Kelce brothers, and start focusing on the other being an exemplary human being off the field.

A veteran named Randy, according to the Daily Mail, called 94 WIP Sports Radio to share how Jason Kelce reached out to him personally amid a PTSD episode. All of it is based solely on a Facebook post.

“I evidently posted something on Jason’s Facebook page,” the caller said. “And he called me up, he reached out and said ‘Brother are you okay? You need somebody to talk to?”

Jason Kelce Reaches Out To Help A Veteran

Randy, the combat veteran, said it was something about getting COVID that triggered his PTSD, which he had never experienced before.

“Well I got COVID in November [20]22 and it triggered something in my head and I ended up being out of work [for] ten weeks. There’s the wall, reliving kill shots, it was just horrible,” he revealed. “The lowest time in my life.”

Something Special

Having somebody reach out is one thing. Having that person be your favorite player as a fan – well, that had to be something special.

“He’s been my favorite player since his second year in the league. I’ve had his jersey,” Randy said, growing emotional. “Just this one, it’s great for him but man, man.”

It’s a great story for everybody involved and everybody who had the honor of hearing it.

Sure we razz Jason Kelce a little bit when he can’t get it together during his retirement announcement or when he goes shirtless in sub-zero weather looking like Yukon Cornelius, but the man sounds like a solid individual off the field.

And for that, we salute him and wish him the best in his future endeavors.
