The Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray claims to be 5’10, but fans are doubting that on social media. He’s been accused by other NFL players of being shorter than he alleges himself to be.

How Tall Is Murray?

The New York Post reported that questions have been spreading about Kyler Murray‘s height for years. Back in 2019, he stood next to his former Oklahoma Sooners teammate and now-Baltimore Raven Marquise Brown, who is 5-foot-9, for his team’s photo. In the image, Murray appears to be shorter than Brown.

“Kyler Murray is literally 5’8 mans got gifted 2 inches,” one social media user commented, with another adding, “Wow. Kyler is definitely not 5’10.”

“Kyler is 5’7 lol,” a third user wrote. A fourth person commented, “Murray is 5’8 3/4 lol.”

Also in 2019, a scout claimed that Murray had inflated his height.

“I think that his height was inflated,’” the unnamed scout said, according to NBC Sports. “‘Maybe it’s the tin-foil hat theory. I just don’t see it. If he refuses to be measured at the Pro Day, that will be telling.’”

Concerns Over Murray’s Height

That same year, the former Cardinals quarterback Steve Buerelein addressed concerns over Murray’s height.

“The first three quarters went kind of like I expected it to go and how I expect it to go for many of these games this year. I’m still not sold on him 100% as being worthy of that first pick and being a great franchise QB over time,” Beuerlein said, according to Arizona Central. “It’s the height. It really is. It’s a question.”

“Until you see a body of work that can eliminate that as an issue, it’s going to be a question mark in my head and I think in a lot of people’s heads,” he continued. “There’s no doubt of his athletic ability and there’s no doubt he can throw the football.”

ESPN host Stephen A. Smith agreed that Murray’s height was a concern.

“I have questions about his height in the pocket throwing over opposing defensive linemen, I definitely have an issue with that, no question,” Smith said. “But if you are talking about this guy escaping out of the pocket and having a clear view of the field and just having the ability to fling the football with his arm, I’ve got news for you. He’s showing me a lot that he can get that done.”

“We’ve seen this brother fling the football, we know he can fling it, we know he can run with it,” he added. “The question is when you have giants, at least in his eyes coming at him, can you see over them or get around them in order to fling the football in open space. I think he can eventually do that.”

‘God Didn’t Give Him Height’

Last year, Murray’s former Cardinals teammate Patrick Peterson touched on his height, admitting that the quarterback is not very tall.

“I just know with me being there one of his weaknesses is keeping him in the pocket, trying to make him a pocket passer,” Peterson said, according to Steelers Depot. “That’s when you’re able to have success against him, because God didn’t give him height to see over the offensive lineman and to see the coverages and things like that.”

“I think that’s going to be our biggest challenge,” he added. “To keep him in that pocket and be able to disguise different coverages in the back end.”

Murray has stayed quiet about his height over the years. He may steadfastly claim to be 5’10, but the truth about his height remains unclear at the time of this writing.
