Dak Prescott went on the offensive earlier this year. Not on the field, but in responding to what he described as a false sexual assault accusation.

Dallas police just gave him significantly good news on that front.

Police say that after a thorough investigation, they have decided not to pursue sexual assault charges against him.

Detectives cited insufficient evidence an offense was ever committed. Prescott’s attorney, Levi McCathern, issued a statement on the closing of the case.

“I want to thank the Dallas Police Department and Dallas County District Attorneys’ office for their thorough investigation of the allegations against Dak Prescott,” McCathern said. “As we knew they would, they found nothing in their extensive exploration of the facts that would support a criminal prosecution.”

He went on to describe the three-time Pro Bowl selection as “a great football player and an even better human.”

Dak Prescott – No Evidence For Charges

Details of the case were wild. As reported previously by Bounding Into Sports, the incident was alleged to have occurred in early 2017. The woman claimed she was assaulted by the NFL star in the back of an SUV in a parking lot.

Prescott received a letter in January from Arlington, Texas, attorneys Bethel and Yoel Zehaie, who represent the woman in question, bizarrely claiming that she is willing to forget the whole assault if he were to pay her $100 million.

“Despite the tragic events, she is willing to forego pursuing criminal charges, along with disclosing this information to the public, in exchange for compensating her for the mental anguish she has suffered,” the letter states.

They later noted that “damages are valued at the sum of $100,000,000.00.”

Prescott though, refused to back down, calling the claims “completely fabricated”. He then filed a lawsuit for an amount in excess of $1 million to be donated to charity.

Is This The End?

Sadly, despite police having declined to pursue charges against Dak Prescott, the matter appears far from over. For one, the lawsuit from the Cowboys quarterback’s team is still out there.

The woman’s lawyers suggest they will compound the situation by “proceeding with our counterclaims” and earlier this week filed a notice to dismiss Dak’s suit.

Prescott is also pursuing criminal extortion charges in Prosper, where he lives. Considering Zehaie’s allegation that the Cowboys player “is a rapist” it would seem he has a defamation lawsuit he could pursue.

“We are confident that at the end of law enforcement’s investigation into the extortion case that they will find the accuser and her attorneys just as guilty as Dak is innocent,” McCathern added in his statement.

He slammed the woman’s allegedly false claims as “an affront to all the true survivors of sexual assault.”
